September 20, 2016

The 18th Annual “Swing for Scholarships” Golf tournament was held Friday, September 9th at the Weyburn Golf Club. This is the eighteenth consecutive year for this tournament in Weyburn raising $17,000 in entrance scholarship funds for full time post-secondary students enrolled at Southeast College. These proceeds are matched dollar for dollar by the Ministry of Advanced Education though the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship Program.

“The people of Weyburn and area raised an amazing amount of $17,000 to help fund our student scholarship program” said Jeff Richards, VP of Strategic Development. “We couldn’t be more proud of them for showing their support and for the incredible energy that they brought to our event.”

A total of 87 golfers enjoyed their day on the course golfing in an 18 hole texas scramble format. The day ended with steak dinner and a number of prize draws. Winning team members with the lowest score were Lyman Sargent, Penny Tochor, Andrea Corrigan and John Corrigan.

“This is such an important fundraising event for the College and its success is due to the involvement of many different local business and individuals in the community,” stated Dave Harazny, Manager of College Advancement. “The College is grateful for everyone’s willingness to support our students and their education.”

Southeast College is proud to be the Trainer of Choice in Southeast Saskatchewan, serving approximately 8,000 learners and producing over 5,000 graduates annually.
